Position Overview:

This position is responsible for performing engineering duties in planning and designing control systems and equipment. Is responsible for supervising engineering projects including planning, directing and coordinating activities. This is a working supervisor position, and with guidance has authority for personnel actions. Is familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Assists with the coordination and project management of the Controls group including labor and material tracking, on-time delivery
  • Analyze data, such as customer design proposal, specifications and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
  • Researches, develops, creates, modifies and tests operating systems-level software
  • Designs, develops, tests or supervises the manufacturing and installation of electrical equipment components or systems
  • May be responsible for technical support of PLC & microprocessor based hardware and software
  • Research, develops, designs and tests electrical components, equipment and systems
  • Ensures that manufacturing, installation and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements
  • Confers with executive management, engineering management, production and customer service staff to determine engineering feasibility and cost effectiveness
  • Stays abreast of industry standards and codes. Analyzes and assists with resolving product problems
  • Assists Engineering Manager with forecasting operating costs of department and preparation of budget requests
  • Incumbent will have leadership and motivational qualities
  • Attend various interdepartmental meetings

Required Experience:

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field
  • 3+ years’ experience in PLC programming or hardware design
  • 3+ years’ experience in project management and/or supervisory role
  • Experience in electrical panel fabrication
  • Proficiency using MRP/ERP software
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
