Applied Energy Systems Releases New GigaGuard™ Compact Data Monitor (CDM) Controller for Use with Its Premier SEMI-GAS® Gas Delivery Equipment

The CDM400 Controller Continuously Monitors Process Instrumentation of Fully Automatic UHP Gas Source Systems

MALVERN, PA, DECEMBER 20, 2016 — Applied Energy Systems (AES), provider of premier high and ultra high purity gas systems, services, and solutions – including design, manufacturing, testing, field and precision welding services – has announced the release of a new Compact Data Monitor (CDM) model in its GigaGuard™ line of control technology: the CDM400 controller for continuous monitoring of process instrumentation in fully automatic source systems. GigaGuard™ controllers are built specifically to support monitoring and management of AES’ SEMI-GAS® brand of ultra high purity gas delivery systems, and the new CDM400 pairs specifically well with the Centurion™ One Cylinder Gas Cabinet from that line.

“Our GigaGuard™ controllers represent the ultimate in intuitive, safe, and precise UHP gas system control making them ideal for highly regulated production environments,” said Jim Murphy, General Manager of Applied Energy Systems. “We have already proven the performance of the GigaGuard™ CDM in such settings with our CDM300 series, which support Centurion™ semi automatic gas systems, and the CDM400 now extends this robust monitoring functionality to our fully automatic UHP systems as well.”

Design highlights of the GigaGuard™ CDM400 Controller include:

  • A 4.3” color touchscreen with intuitive user-programmable functionality and set points.
  • Red, yellow, and green front-mounted LED lights and a high performance audible alarm to indicate system status.
  • A front-mounted pneumatic Emergency Off (EMO) button for automatic system shutdown.
  • Powered by a Siemens S7-1200 series CPU and features a 100 watt power supply.
  • Available with 4 or 8 analog inputs, and control for 8 or 12 solenoid valves.

The CDM400 comes standard with 3 relay outputs, although customization is available. Additional optional features include remote monitoring capabilities, a pneumatic pressure switch, and a differential pressure sensor for exhaust system monitoring. Gas and fire detection integration is also available, as well as Z-Purge Class 1, Div 2 upgrades for hazardous gases and/or operating environments.
